Al Jazeera English Defying the silence: Gaza radio station resumes broadcast from bombed ruins

During Israel’s war on Gaza, 23 radio stations were destroyed, killing journalists and cutting power supplies across the Strip. Now Zaman FM has returned to the airwaves, broadcasting from salvaged equipment in a makeshift studio. The station faces severe challenges, including power outages and shortages of vital equipment, but continues to provide news and a sense of connection to displaced Palestinians living in tents and shelters where other communication networks have been repeatedly cut.
Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reports from Gaza City, Palestine.
