Central African Republic votes as Touadera seeks third presidential term

Voters in Central African Republic have cast ballots in a presidential election widely expected to keep the incumbent in power.
President Faustin-Archange Touadera, who’s been in office since 2016, is projected to win outright in the first round.
But the vote comes after a controversial constitutional change in 2023 that cleared the way for additional presidential terms.
The election took place amid heavy security that included Russian mercenaries linked to the Wagner Group, which backs the president.

Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports.
