Al Jazeera English Argentine suburb battles invasion of giant capybaras

A land dispute is escalating in an affluent suburb north of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The conflict pits local human residents against the world’s largest rodent, the capybara.
People claim these animals are invasive vermin, damaging gardens and contaminating pools.
Residents have initiated legal action, demanding authorities halve the population.
However, many argue for coexistence, urging habitat protection and safe corridors for the capybaras.
The semi-aquatic mammals, symbolic of wider habitat loss, have gained global sympathy.
