Gov’t moving ahead with plans to transform debt market
Government is moving ahead with plans to transform the country’s debt market.

That’s according to Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn.

He says this means the average citizen would now have an opportunity to invest in bonds.

Minister Straughn says companies with debt to issue will also be able to raise capital.

He spoke about what the transformation of the debt market will mean for Barbadians, while addressing the 20th Annual Meeting of the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Debt Group 2025.

The LAC Debt Group’s Annual Meeting brings together 26 debt management offices from across the region to engage in discussions on critical debt management issues.

Minister Straughn says collaboration between these debt management offices is important to open up opportunities for Barbadians to participate in debt exchanges in other countries.
