The Legislative Assembly on Tuesday rejected a bill moved by PDP MLA Waheed Parra seeking to grant land ownership rights to occupants.
Parra had introduced the bill during the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. However, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah opposed the proposal, stating that individuals living on land illegally cannot be granted ownership rights. He said government was making all efforts to give land to landless people.
