Tenant rights activists warn Ontario’s Bill 60 will erode renter’s rights
The Ontario government is scrapping its plans for consultations around a controversial proposal that could have meant an end to rent control and evergreen leases.
Premier Doug Ford’s government introduced Bill 60 on Thursday, which included plans to address delays and reduce the backlog at the Landlord and Tenant Board.
But the proposal that had advocates and politicians most concerned was a plan to hold consultations to potentially change renters’ rights to stay in their homes.
