Traffic changes to help ease congestion
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley says a trial of traffic changes on three key road arteries to help ease congestion will begin on November 1.

Speaking during her address at the Barbados Labour Party conference, she explained that the initiative is aimed at reducing both traffic and the stress road users face daily. The trial will see two lanes of traffic going in the same direction along Station Hill and Collymore Rock in St. Michael, as well as St. Lawrence in Christ Church, during peak hours.

Prime Minister Mottley stressed that this is a trial period. If it works well for road users, it will be continued. If not, adjustments will be made. She also revealed that she has asked the Ministry of Public Works to carry out a cost-benefit analysis on the possible introduction of flyovers to further address the island’s traffic issues.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley also disclosed that additional buses are being purchased for the Transport Board.
