House Speaker Mike Johnson on shutdown negotiations: I have nothing I can offer Democrats
House Speaker Mike Johnson said Thursday he has “nothing to negotiate” and “nothing to offer” Democrats because there are no Republican partisan priorities to take out of their proposed stopgap spending measure.

“This is the first time in American history that any party has had the audacity to shut the government down over a clean nonpartisan CR,” Johnson said. “That’s what’s different about now than all the times in the past.”
