India ignores Trump’s tariff threats? doubles down on Russia ties with ₹10,000 Cr missile deal
India is eyeing the purchase of a large number of missiles worth around Rs 10,000 crore from Russia for its S-400 air defence system. The S-400 system of the Indian Air Force brought down five to six Pakistani fighter aircraft during Operation Sindoor. It also demonstrated its might by downing one spy plane over 300 km deep inside Pakistan during the four-day conflict. The Indian Air Force is in advanced talks with Russia to purchase a significant number of missiles to strengthen its air defence, defence sources told ANI. The Defence Ministry is expected to consider the Indian Air Force’s proposal at the Defence Acquisition Council meeting on October 23, sources said. India and Russia had signed a deal in 2018 to purchase five squadrons of the S-400 air defence missile systems.
