Sudan’s el-Fasher faces mass starvation as RSF blocks food and aid routes
Nearly 18 months of siege on Al Fasher in Sudan’s western Darfur region have resulted in a humanitarian crisis, with reports of deaths due to malnutrition.
The city is the Sudanese army’s last stronghold in the western region, and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have been fighting for its control, with civilians trapped in the middle.
Thousands have been killed in the fighting in el-Fasher, and those who are alive fear that if the violence doesn’t kill them, the hunger resulting from the siege will.
