President of Madagascar flees to ‘safe location’ amid deadly protests
Madagascar’s president Andry Rajoelina has fled to what he’s called a “secure location”, following weeks of sometimes violent antigovernment protests.
In a social media broadcast on Monday night, the president said it was for his own safety.
The opposition is demanding his impeachment.

Al Jazeera’s Fahmida Miller has more from the capital Antananarivo.
