U.S. President Donald Trump has departed for Tel Aviv, where he will engage with hostages and their families before heading to Egypt to formalize a peace deal between Israel and Hamas. 
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will also join other world leaders at the signing ceremony on Monday, co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi as part of a “peace summit.” Meanwhile, for the first time in many months, humanitarian aid is flowing freely into Gaza after months of restrictions. Jeff Semple reports from Tel Aviv.
 
Dozens of fighters were killed in overnight border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, both sides said on Sunday, in the most serious fighting between the neighbours since the Taliban came to power in Kabul. Pakistan claims to have killed over 200 Afghan Taliban and allied fighters, while Afghanistan says that it has killed 58 Pakistani soldiers. Candice Cole reports on the ongoing bloodshed and examines the potential direction of the conflict.
 
New pleas have emerged from the Prairie provinces, urging the federal government to eliminate tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles. The premiers of Manitoba and Saskatchewan argue that removing these tariffs may incentivize Beijing to reconsider its detrimental levies on important exports such as canola. But, as Jillian Piper reports, the prime minister is also facing calls to ignore those demands.
 
Plus, many Quebecers are donning their flannel and heading to the province’s numerous apple orchards. However, while the recent dry weather has been ideal for fall activities, it has not been favourable for apple growers. As Dan Spector reports, this year’s harvest has not been as plentiful.
