Venezuelans react to Maria Corina Machado wins Nobel Peace Prize for “promoting democratic rights”
Announcement of Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado sparked reaction in Colombia. Colombian President Gustavo Petro also congratulated Machado for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Machado is 7th Latin American to receive the prize, joining activists form Argentina, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, & Colombia. The Norwegian Nobel Committee cited her “tireless efforts to promote democratic rights in Venezuela”. Venezuelan migrants living in Colombia reacted to the announcement by Nobel Committee.
