Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Sen. Rodante Marcoleta clashed sharply during a Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on flood control projects. Marcoleta questioned the credibility of the Discaya couple versus former engineer Brice Hernandez, who, along with the Discayas, sought witness protection amid allegations of lawmakers’ involvement in anomalies. Despite Marcoleta’s objections and claims of potential bias, Lacson overruled him, allowing testimony from Henry Alcantara, who alleged kickbacks and budget insertions involving several senators. Marcoleta also referenced journalist Ramon Tulfo’s Facebook post about a lawmaker allegedly seeking P120 million from the Discayas, which he denied soliciting.
