Gujarat Celebrates Cleanliness and Urban Transformation in 2025
Marking 20 years of the visionary Well-Planned City Development Project launched by PM Narendra Modi in 2005, Gujarat has declared 2025 as the Year of Urban Development. At a grand event in Gandhinagar, Gandhinagar bagged the Cleanest City Award (3–10 lakh category), while Surat received the First Nirmal Gujarat Award. CM Bhupendra Patel lauded citizens and the Swachh Bharat Mission’s success. The “Swachhata Hi Sewa” fortnight (Sept 17–Oct 2) was launched to boost waste management and civic participation. With ₹8,220 crore sanctioned for projects like Vikas Path and the Sabarmati Riverfront, Gujarat envisions smart, green, and inclusive urban growth.
