Trump cuts questions short as Rubio hands him note saying US “very close” to Gaza peace deal
Speaking at a roundtable session on Antifa — what he referred to as the U.S.-based “left-wing terror threat” — President Donald Trump provided an update on peace negotiations with leaders in the Middle East Wednesday.
After being handed a note by Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the panel’s Q&A session, Trump said the U.S. was “very close” to securing a peace deal in Gaza.
The Republican leader also said he will likely visit the Middle East on Sunday. Asked if he would visit Gaza, Trump said “I might do that,” noting he would “most likely” be in Egypt, where key negotiators are currently gathered.
This comes as Israel’s war on Hamas entered its third year on Tuesday, after the two-year anniversary of the deadly Hamas attacks in south Israel.
