Unheard. Unserved: Woman denied breast cancer surgery by hospital due to BMI
A Nova Scotia woman says she was denied consistent surgical care after a breast cancer diagnosis due to an outdated BMI-based system.
“This was mentally debilitating to not only have to deal with a cancer diagnosis, but to have to deal with the medical system that was biased against you from the beginning,” said Kim White, breast cancer patient.
