Special ribbons honor Annunciation at Twin Cities Marathon
Blue and green ribbons lined a portion of the Twin Cities Marathon route Sunday, a tribute to the victims of the recent Annunciation School shooting.

The display honored the two children killed and 21 others injured in the tragedy. Among the thousands of runners were Jesse and Mollie Merkel, parents of 8-year-old victim Fletcher Merkel, who ran in remembrance of their son. Close family friend Kristen Lyrek said their race singlet featured a fish with Fletcher’s initials because of his love for fishing.
