Geneva: Japanese activist exposes Chinese oppression, highlights issue of South China Sea
On the sidelines of the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council, Shun Fujiki, Executive Director of the International Career Support Organisation, raised serious concerns about China’s domestic and international policies.
Fujiki highlighted the suffering of ethnic minorities, including Uyghurs, Tibetans, and South Mongolians. He called China’s system “a brainwashing effort” aimed at erasing cultures, languages, and traditions. He condemned the use of internment camps as inhumane practices demanding urgent global attention. On regional issues, Fujiki described China’s aggressive actions in the East and South China Seas. He cited incidents in the Philippines where Chinese vessels used water cannons against local fishermen and noted similar intimidation tactics affecting Japan, India, and other neighboring countries. Fujiki also criticised China’s influence over nations receiving financial aid, warning that dependence on Beijing compromises national sovereignty.
