Leh on High Alert as Assembly of Five Or More Banned After September 24 Unrest | #shorts
In the wake of violent protests on September 24, 2025, demanding statehood and Sixth Schedule inclusion for Ladakh, the administration in Leh has imposed strict security measures. Under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, public gatherings of five or more individuals are prohibited without prior authorisation. The unrest resulted in four fatalities and numerous injuries, prompting authorities to enforce curfews and detain over 50 individuals. Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta chaired a high-level security review meeting, emphasising the need for heightened vigilance and inter-agency coordination to restore peace and order in the region.
