‘Sort of Married To…’: NATO Nation Needles Trump Like Never Before On Russia, Hungary Says This
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has openly defied Donald Trump’s push for a ban on Russian oil purchases, dealing a blow to the U.S. president’s campaign to choke off Moscow’s revenues. Despite Trump’s insistence that NATO members “immediately cease” Russian energy imports, Orban declared Hungary would continue buying, citing the country’s dependence on the Druzhba pipeline. He warned that cutting Russian supplies would cripple Hungary’s economy, causing a 4% collapse in performance “within a minute.” Trump also acknowledged Hungary’s landlocked geography while still calling Orban a “great guy and great friend.” The defiance comes as Trump presses Europe to toughen sanctions while dangling future U.S. measures. Brussels has already vowed to phase out Russian fossil fuels by 2027, but resistance from Hungary and Slovakia remains a stumbling block in the West’s energy war against Russia.
