Dozens killed in Gaza as Israeli strikes intensify on main city
Israeli bombardment kills more than 30 people in war-battered Gaza, with the United Nations saying the military is “inflicting terror on the Palestinian population of Gaza City and forcing tens of thousands to flee”.
The death toll surges in early Israeli strikes on Palestinians, with the heaviest carnage in besieged Gaza City as the widely criticised attack to capture the main urban centre continues.
Meanwhile, civil defence members and the emergency services say they’re struggling to reach wounded people in bombarded areas because of destroyed roads and heavy shelling. In some cases, wounded people have been brought to hospitals after being carried on foot or on animal-drawn carts.
