The country’s president, Ferdinand Marcos Jr, ordered the country’s disaster response agency to go on full alert and mobilised all government agencies in response to Ragasa, which swept through the northern Philippines after making landfall on Monday. Ragasa, the world’s most powerful tropical typhoon this year, brought hurricane-force winds of up to 220km/h (137mph) and gusts of up to 295km/h
