US senior advisor for Africa, Massad Boulos, said on Wednesday (September 17) that President Donald Trump saw Africa as a “strategic partner” and not a charity case. He made the remarks at a press briefing following talks with the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. The two leaders discussed various regional issues, ranging from the DR Congo conflict and the Sudan war to the security situation in the Sahel and tensions over Ethiopia’s dam.
