“Incorrect, baseless…” Election Commission rebukes Rahul’s ‘Vote Chori’ claims, fact checks on Aland
Launching scathing attack on Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rahul Gandhi held a press conference on Thursday, Sept 18. Rahul Gandhi alleged Chief ECI Gyanesh Kumar of shielding ‘vote thieves’ in elections across India and backing those who are ‘hijacking democracy’. Post Rahul’s Press conference, ECI issued immediate response to Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi’s allegations. Election Commission of India countered Rahul’s allegations with ‘facts’, mentioning ‘no deletion of votes’ calling the accusations ‘incorrect and baseless’. The Opposition parties have been repeatedly claiming that the ECI colluding with BJP is deleting and adding fraudulent votes in the voter rolls in various election. The Congress leader has claimed that fraud has taken place in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, and also in various assembly segments, including in Karnataka’s Mahadevpura segment.
