“The ongoing genocide in Gaza is a moral outrage and a legal emergency. Member states (of the United Nations) must act now,” said Navi Pillay, the head of the Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory and a former International Criminal Court judge.

Meanwhile, United Nations human rights chief Volker Turk called on Israel to immediately stop its ground assault on Gaza City that got underway on Tuesday and said, “I can only think of what it means for women, for malnourished children, for people with disabilities, if they are again attacked in this way. And I have to say the only response to this is: stop the carnage.”

The Israeli ambassador Daniel Meron rejected the “libellous rant” saying that it spreads “the malicious genocide narrative.”
