Trump to honor Charlie Kirk with Presidential Medal of Freedom
President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he will posthumously award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. “Charlie is a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people,” Trump said while delivering remarks at the Pentagon to honor the 9/11 attacks.

Kirk, who was one of the country’s most prominent conservative activists and a staunch supporter of Trump, died Wednesday after he was shot at an event at Utah Valley University. The Medal of Freedom is the country’s highest civilian honor and is awarded to people who have made notable contributions to a variety of areas, including public service, world peace and culture.

“The date of the ceremony will be announced, and I can only guarantee you one thing, that we will have a very big crowd,” Trump said. Trump has previously given the award to conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh, golf legend Tiger Woods and Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
