A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening, when four children drowned in a water-filled pit at a railway bridge construction site near Darwha-Ner railway station in Yavatmal district.The deceased have been identified as Rehan Aslam Khan (13), Golu Pandurang Narnavare (10), Somya Satish Khadsan (10), and Vaibhav Ashish Bodhle (14), all residents of Darwha. The incident took place during the ongoing construction work on the ambitious Wardha–Yavatmal–Nanded railway line. Large pits have been dug to erect bridge pillars near Darwha town. With heavy rain filling these pits with water, they have turned into deep pools. However, no safety measures or protective barricades have been put in place around the site.
