Food delivery platform Swiggy has increased its platform fee for orders from Rs 12 to Rs 14, marking a 600 per cent rise in just over two years. Rival Zomato has also raised fees five times in under two years, a 400 per cent increase. With both platforms processing millions of orders daily, the hikes generate massive revenue but add to consumer costs. Critics say higher commissions and fees are driving up menu prices, hurting customers and restaurants alike.
