Gold holds steady as focus shifts to Trump-Zelenskiy, EU peace talks
Gold steadied near $3,390 an ounce on Monday after touching a two-week low, with investors eyeing US President Donald Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and European leaders over a possible peace deal with Russia. Oil remained flat, while aluminium dipped as the US widened tariffs. Silver rebounded above $38, palm oil hit a five-month high on strong demand, and coffee surged to multi-week highs on tight stocks and Brazilian frost concerns. Traders also await Fed signals from Jackson Hole.
Investors now turn their attention to the Federal Reserve’s annual Jackson Hole symposium, where markets will be looking for clearer signals on the path of interest rate cuts in the coming months.
