Indian Foreign Secretary Misri’s Nepal visit bolsters ties, prepares for PM Modi-Oli meet
Kathmandu witnessed a busy round of high-level diplomacy as Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri began his two-day official visit to Nepal. Arriving in Kathmandu on Sunday, Misri held wide-ranging talks with his counterpart Amrit Bahadur Rai, focusing on connectivity, trade, energy, development cooperation, and other issues of mutual interest. Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the discussions underscored the strong bond between the two nations.
During his stay, Misri also met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, President Ram Chandra Paudel, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The visit is viewed as groundwork for Prime Minister Oli’s scheduled India trip on August 29, with preparations also underway for a possible meeting with PM Narendra Modi in Bodh Gaya.
