अलास्का के एंकोरेज में अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप और रूसी राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन की आमने-सामने मुलाक़ात करीब तीन घंटे चली, लेकिन न रूस-यूक्रेन युद्धविराम पर सहमति बन पाई और न कोई ठोस समझौता हो सका. ट्रंप ने कहा, “कोई समझौता तब तक नहीं होता, जब तक असल में समझौता नहीं हो जाता.” उन्होंने यह भी स्वीकार किया कि दोनों देश किसी समझौते तक नहीं पहुंच सके. पुतिन ने संघर्ष ख़त्म करने की बात की, लेकिन “मूल कारण” दूर करने का ज़िक्र किया और अगली मुलाक़ात के लिए मॉस्को में मिलने का संकेत दिया.

Trump said, “There is no agreement until there is a real agreement.” He also admitted that the two countries could not reach any agreement. Putin talked about ending the conflict, but mentioned removing the “root cause” and indicated a meeting in Moscow for the next meeting.
