NDTV Israel-Lebanon Continue To Exchange Fires Despite Trump’s 3-Week Ceasefire Extension

Israel-Lebanon continue to exchange offensives despite Trump-mediated 3-week ceasefire in place. Explosions and fresh smoke could be seen in southern Lebanon along its border with Israel on April 25. Earlier, on April 24, 4 people were killed in Israeli strikes, Reuters cited Lebanon’s state news agency’s report. Southern Lebanon saw the deadliest day of the ceasefire on April 23 with deaths of 6 people. Reuters shared footage of Israeli tanks and troops moving across border amidst renewed fighting with Hezbollah. While ceasefire led to significant reduction in hostilities, Israel-Hezbollah continued to trade blows in southern Lebanon. Notably, Israel has kept soldiers in a self-declared “buffer zone” in southern Lebanon with ammunition and artilleries. On April 23, Trump announced 3-week extension of Israel-Lebanon ceasefire with representatives of both countries. Hostilities between Hezbollah-Israel reignited on March 2, when the group opened fire in support of Iran. Nearly 2,500 people have been killed in Lebanon since March 2, the Lebanese health ministry says.
