Voting in the first round of the West Bengal elections has shattered all records. In the first phase, a voter turnout of 92.88 percent was recorded across 152 seats spanning 16 districts. Currently, the Election Commission’s app displays “Approx.” next to this figure.

This implies that the final tally could rise even further; and if this pattern persists through the second and final phases, Bengal is set to break all previous records—surpassing every electoral milestone ever achieved in the state. According to the preliminary figures, the highest voter turnout was recorded in Cooch Behar.
