This road in Hangzhou automatically switches direction #CGTN

It looks unreal, but it works. In east China’s Hangzhou, traffic adapts in real time thanks to a smart reversible lane system powered by 18 lateral-moving robots forming a 99-meter dynamic barrier.

During peak hours, the system activates automatically, with the robots moving at 5-10 km/h to shift into preset positions. In just 40 seconds, a straight lane can be transformed into a left-turn lane, replacing a process that once took up to 30 minutes of manual work. Linked together and equipped with wheels and extendable mechanical arms, the robots move as a coordinated unit to flexibly adjust traffic flow.
