US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad conclude with no agreement
US Vice President JD Vance and his delegation departed Islamabad on Sunday (Apr 12) after peace talks with Iran failed to produce an agreement. The negotiations, mediated by Pakistan, covered issues including the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s nuclear programme and sanctions relief.

Vance emphasised that Washington’s core demand was Iran’s commitment to abandon pursuit of nuclear weapons and related capabilities.

Iranian state media blamed Washington for the breakdown, calling US demands unreasonable.
