The talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad, aimed at finalizing the terms of a ceasefire, will continue today; however, in Lebanon, the fighting rages on. From Beirut to the Bekaa Valley, Israel has unleashed devastation. Netanyahu appears unwilling to agree to a ceasefire; he has explicitly stated that Israel will not cease its attacks. Under these circumstances, how can a ceasefire possibly be implemented? Israel’s adversary is not Lebanon, but Hezbollah. Hezbollah has seized control of large swathes of Lebanon through the use of terror. Iran has pledged every form of assistance to Hezbollah—will the ceasefire negotiations ultimately collapse because of Hezbollah?
