海中で分解される原料を使い、スポーツ施設などで使用する人工芝を開発した太田昂貴さん。これまで多くの人工芝は石油由来の原料で作られていたため、使用していく中で摩耗した葉の断片などが雨などによって川や海へ流出し、マイクロプラスチックとして海洋生態系に悪影響を及ぼしていました。この取り組みを通して、人工芝をマイクロプラスチック問題から地球環境に影響を与えないものに変えたいと語る太田さんの思い描く未来とは？

Mr. Koki Ohta has developed an artificial turf intended for use in sports facilities and similar venues that is made from materials designed to decompose in the ocean. Until now, most artificial turf has been manufactured using petroleum-based materials； as such, as the turf wears down over time, fragments of the turf are washed by rain into rivers and oceans, where they become microplastics that have a detrimental effect on the marine ecosystem. Through this initiative, Mr. Ota seeks to transform artificial turf into a product that poses no threat to the environment, resolving the issue of microplastic pollution. What kind of future does Mr. Ota envision?
