Both US and Iran have strong interests in ending the war, says expert
The United States and Iran reached a tentative, two-week ceasefire on Wednesday (Apr 8) in the war that tore across the Middle East and disrupted the global energy market. But questions have since emerged even as delegations head to Pakistan this weekend for talks. Eyal Mayroz, senior lecturer of peace and conflict studies at The University of Sydney, tells CNA’s Asia Now that while both sides are keen to end the war, they remain far apart on key demands, making a quick breakthrough in negotiations unlikely.
