US and Iran agree to two-week ceasefire that will reopen Strait of Hormuz
Efforts to prolong a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran are underway. This, following a pledge to pause fighting and separate declarations of victory, after more than a month of hostilities. The truce came about an hour before US President Donald Trump’s deadline for Tehran to reopen the key Strait of Hormuz or see its “whole civilisation” destroyed. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said safe passage will be possible for two weeks. Hira Mustafa reports from Islamabad.
