Artemis II astronauts make historic moon flyby
The four-man crew of NASA’s Artemis II mission made history on Monday (Apr 6) after a daring journey around the far side of the moon, taking them farther from Earth than any humans have ever travelled.
As the astronauts passed over the moon’s shadowed far side — assigning new names to previously unnamed lunar features — they also requested to name a crater in honour of mission commander Reid Wiseman’s late wife, who died of cancer in 2020.
“It’s a bright spot on the moon, and we would like to call that ‘Carroll’,” said Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen. #nasa #artemisii
