Bangladesh measles outbreak is ‘wake-up call’ to countries about vaccines: UNICEF rep
An emergency measles and rubella vaccination campaign is underway in Bangladesh amid a far-spreading measles outbreak. According to estimates, more than 8,000 people have been infected nationwide, leading to about 100 suspected deaths – mostly children. Bangladesh’s vaccination campaigning is “absolutely essential”, with a significant holiday period in March contributing to the rapid spread of the disease, UNICEF representative to Bangladesh Rana Flowers tells CNA’s Asia Now.
