Live: Beyond Earth’s orbit: NASA’s Artemis II crew begins historic deep-space voyage
NASA’s Artemis II mission is officially underway, marking humanity’s first crewed voyage to the moon in over 50 years. Following a successful translunar injection burn on April 2, the international crew – NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen – have transitioned into deep-space operations.
As they settle into their second full day aboard the Orion spacecraft, the four astronauts – pioneers for a new generation – have become the first humans to leave Earth’s orbit since the conclusion of the Apollo program in 1972. This 10-day mission serves as a critical flight test to validate life-support systems and deep-space maneuvers, paving the way for future lunar landings. Stay tuned to CGTN for the latest updates as the mission progresses toward the lunar far side and back. #NASA #Artemis
