भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) आगामी तमिलनाडु विधानसभा चुनावों में, जो 23 अप्रैल को होने हैं, अपने ‘कमल’ चुनाव चिह्न पर 33 सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ रही है। एआईएडीएमके-नेतृत्व वाले राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन (एनडीए) के तहत भाजपा को आवंटित 27 सीटों में से एक सीट पर तमिऴगा मक्कल मुन्नेत्र कड़गम (टीएमएमके) और एक अन्य सीट पर साउथ इंडियन फॉरवर्ड ब्लॉक (एसआईएफबी) चुनाव लड़ेंगे। इसके अलावा, जीके वासन के नेतृत्व वाली तमिल मानीला कांग्रेस (मूपनार) भाजपा के चुनाव चिह्न पर 5 सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ेगी, जबकि एक सीट पर एक अन्य सहयोगी पुथिया नीति कच्ची (पीएनके) के लड़ने की संभावना है। विश्लेषकों का मानना है कि भाजपा जिन 27 सीटों पर सीधे चुनाव लड़ रही है, उनमें से 12 से 15 सीटों पर उसकी जीत की मजबूत संभावना है। वहीं, कुछ सतर्क आंतरिक आकलन इसके 7 से 10 सीटें जीतने का अनुमान लगाते हैं। पार्टी को कोयंबटूर नॉर्थ, मायलापुर, थल्ली, नागरकोइल, अविनाशी, मदुरै साउथ और राजापालयम जैसी सीटों पर मजबूत दावेदार माना जा रहा है।
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting 33 seats on its ‘Lotus’ symbol in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, set for April 23. Of the 27 seats specifically allotted to the BJP as part of the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), one of them will be fought by Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) and another by the South Indian Forward Bloc (SIFB). 5 seats will be contested by the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar), led by GK Vasan, using the BJP’s symbol. One seat is likely to be contested by another ally, Puthiya Needhi Katchi (PNK), under the Lotus symbol. Analysts believe the BJP has a strong chance of winning 12 to 15 of the 27 seats it is directly contesting, while more conservative internal estimates put its likely tally between 7 and 10 seats. The party is seen as a strong contender in constituencies such as Coimbatore North, Mylapore, Thalli, Nagercoil, Avinashi, Madurai South, and Rajapalayam.
