Three-time colon cancer survivor, Jennifer Lava joins TODAY to share her remarkable of first being diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at age 34 — and then two more times after that. Lava admits that when she first received her diagnosis, she knew “very little to nothing” about colorectal cancer and never thought a young healthy person like herself would be diagnosed. Lava’s doctor, expert in young-onset colorectal cancer at Memorial Sloane Kettering in New York, Dr. Andrea Cercek, also joins the conversation to talk about the importance of getting checked, even when symptoms feel mild.
