Gulf states have condemned what they call Iran’s “blatant” and “criminal” attacks on regional energy infrastructure, warning they are prepared to act in self-defence as tensions escalate across the Middle East. Positions between the United States and Iran are also hardening, with no common ground on diplomacy, while Tehran is moving to impose costly tolls on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
