US-Israel war on Iran drives fuel surge as Philippine farmers face rising losses

The US-Israel war on Iran is sending shockwaves through global energy markets, driving up fuel prices far beyond the region.
In the northern Philippines, those costs are being felt in the country’s agricultural heartlands, where farmers say they are now paying the price.
Fuel costs have nearly doubled for vegetable growers in Benguet province, one of the country’s main producing regions.
Farmers face steep losses as transport expenses climb whilst cabbage prices plummet—forcing many to harvest at a loss or leave crops to rot in the fields.

Al Jazeera’s Jamela Alindogan reports from Benguet province, the Philippines.
