When the police became strict, we searched Atiq Ahmed’s house, and he ran away to Bombay… Gradually, he became a mafia leader. The situation was such that he would buy disputed land at a low price and sell it for a profit… If someone opposed him, he would threaten or kill them… There was a group of ISI people from Pakistan who used to print fake Indian currency and send it to the Pakistani embassy in Kathmandu… Shahabuddin in Siwan, Mukhtar Ansari in Mau, and Atiq Ahmed in Allahabad had a close relationship. Together, they used to print fake currency… After using that money, they started increasing their group and making a profit.”
