Over 160 children. One school. A question the world is asking. On February 28, an elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, was bombed. According to Iranian media reports, over 160 students, aged 7 to 12, died in the bombing. Beside the rubble, parents wailed in despair, while across the world, people are asking the same question: Who bombed the school?
According to UN statistics, the world today faces the largest number of armed conflicts since World War II, with civilian deaths reaching their highest levels in decades. When conflict breaks out, children often bear the brunt of the impact. Today, one in five children globally, a total of 473 million, lives in or has fled from conflict zones. If the bottom line of civilization has shifted from “poverty” to “death,” then the beacon of humanity has already dimmed.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the Red Cross Society of China has decided to provide $200,000 in emergency humanitarian aid to the Iranian Red Crescent Society in a bid to support and console the parents of the deceased students.
