Suspect dead after synagogue shooting in Michigan
A suspect is dead after a shooting at a synagogue in suburban Detroit. Police responded to an incident at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan. Reports indicate a vehicle was driven into the building, and security at the synagogue fired shots at the suspect. Authorities say the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The building also houses a school that includes a kindergarten, preschool and daycare center. Jewish leaders in Detroit say all area synagogues and community facilities are now on a precautionary lockdown. Bloomfield Hills schools are also in what police are calling a “secure mode.” FBI Director Kash Patel said on X that the FBI is assisting local authorities in the reported active shooter incident in Michigan, as well as the shooting at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
